Long Vacation Megapost

So, it's time for yet another vacation. This time I'm going to be out for a little more than a month. During this month I will be travelling and moving back to the good ol' USA!

Not to leave you hanging, I've decided to put up a big one. It's a ten link awestravaganza!

http://www.punkyradio.com/
This is one of my favorite podcasts. Hosts Pauly B. Edwards and Tony Hearn, both performers and musicians themselves, play a lot of cool punk music. Also they interact with each other between songs, and with their audience via email and myspace. It's weekly and it's excellent.

Some funny cartoons about the current issues of the day featuring caricatures of political leaders. It's quite funny, but it does help to know a little news before you watch it. Thanks to Jason for the link.

This one is really simple and really fun. There's a big white board and you can drag letters around on it and spell things, much like you did with those alphabet refrigerator magnets we all played with as little kids and then later used to spell naughty things as we entered our teenage years. The only difference here is that it's online and that you aren't the only one sliding the letters. It's fun to interact.

Personal site of filmmaker, musician, artist and all around interesting guy Billy Reid. There are a lot of short clips and songs that he has put up for all to enjoy, and there are updates semi-regularly. Check out "I'm Typing LOL" in the shorts section to see what originally attracted me to the site.

Artist Jon Beinart uses baby doll parts to make things that he calls Toddlerpedes. Having would of these at home would be an excellent source of conversation. It would also be an excellent source for terrifying nightmares for both parents and children.

Here are three shorts made by two guys who worked at the same advertising agency. They are clearly professionals and they are clearly doing something that they feel strongly about. These days there are so many videos online, it's really nice to see some that are produced really, really well. Thank you Dave for the link.

I will be away for Valentine's day this year, so in advance here is a link to the Valentine's greeting from David Firth over at Fat-pie.com. It's a little different from the usual, but excellent to watch. Maybe not at work, though, or with your kids in the room. Thanks to Aya for the link.

Time for more plugging. This is a site where three of my friends blog, along with a few other people who I don't know. There are a lot of youtube clips and random thoughts, but their tastes run similarly to mine, so I enjoy it quite a bit. Thanks to Jason S. for the link on this one.

http://www.liamlynch.net/
Liam Lynch is one of my favorite people on the internet. He does a lot of different things. He's a musician, his most successful song being "My United States of Whatever," I think. He's the creator of the Silf + Olly show and the director of both "Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic" and "Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny." He also creates his own podcast called LynchLand, which is very well done. He makes a lot of stuff and he does it well.

And finally, speaking of people I love to follow, there is Rob Schrab. He drew the comic "Scud, the Disposable Assassin." He created Channel101.com with Dan Harmon. The two of them also wrote "Monster House" and the forthcoming "Kung-Fu Panda," which is currently in production at Dreamworks. Also, on a more obscure note, he was a member of The Dead Alewives, which recorded one CD and forever associated Funyuns and Mountain Dew with Dungeons and Dragons. Now he's vlogging his time drawing the final issue of Scud. Definitely check it out.

That should hold you over, hopefully. Come back in March and there will be some fresh new links. In the meantime, feel free to send me some links of your own so I can put them up upon my return.

And of course, if you missed it the first time I plugged it shamelessly, check out my adventures as a new media superstar in the far east (read: guy with friend, camera, and computer).

Funeral Quest

Here's an online game that lets you experience the ups and downs of life as a very silly mortician. The goal is to make as much money as possible, much like with any business. You can also take classes to improve your skills at reading your clients and sabatoge the other players, who you are able to interact with.
